This position is open on a rolling basis and will be filled upon the availability of a suitable candidate. 

  1. Job Profile 

The Senior Training and Job Placement Officer will play a pivotal role in fostering sustainable employment opportunities and market integration for program trainees and small enterprises supported by the organization. The role holder will lead efforts in database development, market linkage creation, promotional activities, and capacity building, ensuring program beneficiaries access relevant markets, resources, and services to enhance their resilience and self-reliance. The position holder will lead a team of Job placement assistants at district level. 

  1. Key Responsibilities  

  1. Program Planning and Implementation: 

  • Develop detailed plans for incorporating livelihood-related activities into project development and implementation. 

  • Plan, implement, and monitor the livelihood components of the project in accordance with approved donor agreements and local government guidelines. 

  • Carry out baseline needs assessments with project teams and local partners to identify and prioritize livelihood needs. 

  1. Database and Market Development: 

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of trainees' cohorts for job placement in target markets. 

  • Create and manage an enterprise product database to support promotion and marketing initiatives. 

  • Conduct mapping of employees in on-farm and off-farm sectors and potential target markets. 

  1. Product Promotion and Market Engagement: 

  • Develop inventories for product promotion and exhibitions. 

  • Organize and facilitate participation in exhibitions, roadshows, and "Show and Tell" events. 

  • Establish and manage product displays in key market areas to enhance visibility and sales. 

  1. Networking and Linkages: 

  • Develop partnerships with private and public sector organizations such as SMEDA, Chambers, and cooperatives for market inclusion and access to public funds. 

  • Create linkages between small enterprises and microfinance service providers to facilitate affordable financing for business scaling. 

  • Connect beneficiaries with digital marketing platforms and resources, including the National Incubation Centre and other digital tools. 

  • Collaborate with social media influencers to boost sales and expand market reach. 

  1. Capacity Building and Training: 

  • Design and develop training modules focused on marketing and entrepreneurship. 

  • Facilitate and deliver training sessions to build the capacity of trainees in business management and market integration. 

  • Support beneficiaries in developing tailored business plans to achieve sustainability. 

  1. IEC Materials and Reporting: 

  • Develop Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials for organizational products and job placement initiatives. 

  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans and activity timelines. 

  • Undertake any additional duties assigned by the line manager to meet project goals.

Person Specification 

Skills, knowledge and expertiserequired for the role.  

Education:Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in job placement, market development, or business promotion, preferably in the NGO/INGO sector. 

  • Proven experience in networking with private and public sectors andfacilitating linkages for business and market integration. 

Skills: 

  • Strong expertise in database management, market analysis, and product promotion. 

  • Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms. 

  • Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building training. 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop business plans and IEC materials.
